Aspen Valley Ranch is lined by a 5 acre stand of Aspen trees nurtured by Horse Creek. The building site offers mountain views and topographical features on four sides. In response, Portfolio chose a one-room-deep Plan with rooms opened up to each other and to abundant covered porches and decks. After exploring several exterior options, the clients agreed to a mountain version of the “Shingle Style”, with a controlled geometry punctuated by dormers, the Stair Tower, and continuous sheltering roofs.
The Interior features a double-height great room, dining room, and kitchen hearth room, all united by a continuous timber and truss ceiling composition.
